Renewable and Non Renewable energy

Energy exists in everything, whether it is a person, animal, or object. It comes from two dissimilar sources: renewable and non-renewable energy. Both of these types of energy have their good and bad points. Below you can see what these are for each type.

Renewable Energy. Renewable energy is energy that comes from sources that replenish and will be around forever. This includes sun, wind, rain, and bodies of water, like the ocean. These sources can power our homes in the same way that the wind can power a kite. You can run a kite forever so long as the wind keeps blowing, and it has no harmful result on the planet.

Alternative Energy

Advantages of Renewable Energy. Renewable energy is good for the planet because it does not use up resources. This also makes renewable energy economy to use, because it is freely available. Furthermore, it allows America to produce all our own energy ourselves instead of buying fuels such as oil from other countries.

Renewable and Non Renewable energy

Disadvantages of Renewable Energy. However, definite types of renewable power sources also have disadvantages. For example, solar energy only adds power to panels while the day. The rest of the time, solar power plants have to use stored power. Hydro power also has a drawback. Setting up dams to use the water flow disrupts nature.

Non-Renewable Energy. Natural resources like coal, oil, and natural gas are not carefully renewable. This is because it takes many thousands of years for the Earth to produce them, and once they are burned they cannot be reused.

Advantages of Non-renewable energy. While it may not seem so at first, non-renewable supplies of power also have pros and cons. On the inescapable side, these resources are still widely ready in the world, especially coal. This is why America uses so much coal power--we have a lot of it.

Along with coal, there is natural gas, nuclear power, and oil. Oil is called a fossil fuel because it is made of the fossil remains of animals whose bodies have been underground. Oil is a very convenient resource and can be turned into many types of fuel, such as gas, jet fuel, and heating oil.

Nuclear power and natural gas are good for the planet because they create very few harmful gases. Compared to oil and coal, these two types of energy are very clean.

Disadvantages of Non-renewable energy. The biggest qoute with non-renewable power are that they will run out one day. Also, they create much more air and water pollution with gas emissions. Finally, burning these fossil fuels increases the qoute of global warming.

Disadvantages of Alternative power

Alternative energy would seem like a good selection for new home builders and citizen who are in the store to buy a new automobile. There are disadvantages of alternative energy that realistically need to be considered.

One of the biggest disadvantages of alternative energy is that it cannot be stored like coal and natural gas can. storage is a huge issue because using alternative energy puts us at the whim of mum Nature. If there is no wind for a week, relying on wind power becomes a problem. If you are too far north, solar panels will only furnish adequate energy when the Northern Hemisphere of the planet is tilted towards the sun and so on.

Alternative Energy

Other sources of alternative energy are being studied as well to power not only our homes but our vehicles as well. Hybrid cars have been on the store for a while. They use the same idea as an galvanic car only they don't need to be plugged in to recharge. They use their braking theory to regenerate power and they still have all of the machine power of a gasoline engine. New technologies to furnish a fuel cell vehicle are currently underway along with a hydro-powered hybrid using hydrogen.

Disadvantages of Alternative power

Another of the disadvantages of alternative energy is that it can be costly to implement into our already set up infrastructure. Most of the alternative energy resources available today require a distinct type of wiring theory than what we currently have in place. This could cause the transformation to alternative energy sources to be delayed until we have depleted the remaining amounts of fossil fuels found on our Earth today.

Fossil fuels are less costly right now than alternative energy due to the estimate of changes that have to be made to adapt a alternative energy plan. This proves to be other one of the disadvantages of alternative energy. Fossil fuels are easily available and easy to use. They can be transported to roughly any location for use. Power plants are already set up for burning fossil fuels like coal and this makes the whole process less costly than transforming to alternative energy.

The advantages of using alternative energy will be realized when citizen are forced to make the turn if for example, we deplete all of our fossil fuels or the cost of use simply come to be prohibitive. The disadvantages will gradually fade away as more and more citizen use alternative energy as their source of power.

Renewable energy For Kids - Teaching Children About Renewable energy

Many parents want to teach their children about renewable energy and energy efficiency early in life because once they get in the habit of it, it will be a habit they continue to consequent for the rest of their life. But where should you start when teaching renewable energy for kids? A good idea would be starting with defining exactly what renewable energy is. You can propose they make a list of non-renewable and renewable power sources and build from there. Some examples would be:

Non-Renewable: Oil/Gas, Natural Gas, Coal, Nuclear
Renewable: Solar, Wind, Geothermal, Hydro/Water

Alternative Energy

Explain to them how renewable energy comes from natural forces. It is dissimilar from fossil fuels as it does not make greenhouse gases or other pollutants. You can added justify how the mass production of electricity using renewable energy sources has only recently come to be more popular. Some of the reasons why it's becoming more favorite include: atmosphere change caused by pollution and fossil fuels are all being used up and becoming more expensive.

Renewable energy For Kids - Teaching Children About Renewable energy

A great idea is to teach kids about energy efficiency. Have them make a list of all the powered devices they use for a day such as Tv, computer, lights, etc. And for how long, and if possible the wattage of each device. If they can't get the wattage, you can look up the average wattage for each device for demonstration purposes. Do a rough calculation to show them how much power they're using in a day. Now have them do an 'energy conservation' day where they turn off devices when they're not using them, turn off lights when not in a room, turn down the heat/Ac a integrate degrees, etc. Now recalculate the daily wattage and show them how much energy they saved with a few uncomplicated changes.

Another great idea is show them how installing a solar panel or windmill can create electricity for their own home. It's not as costly as you might think. You don't need an costly market solar panel, you can build your own for 0-200 dollars and your kids could even help if they're old enough. The less they take energy for granted, the better.

Renewable power - lesson 1 - Introduction to Renewable power

With just a dinky bit of research, one can speedily conclude that there is a strong and growing groundswell of interest in renewable energy. Leaving politics out of it, many citizen are simply concerned in development their homes more energy productive and thereby rescue money on heating and cooling bills.

Renewable energy ordinarily includes solar power, wind power, and biofuels. For all categories, there are ways to merge them into your daily life and into your home to make yourself more energy efficient. These changes will indubitably save you money over the long run--and in some case in the short term---but they will also help reduce the gigantic strain that is being settled on the planet in general.

Alternative Energy

There are a large amount of companies, both large and small, that advertise their definite goods or service that fits into the renewable energy industry. There are a great amount of businesses that manufacture, install and repair all types of solar panels. Likewise, there are a corresponding amount of businesses that sell, service and install systems designed to capture wind power. Still more associates are out there manufacturing and selling discrete forms of biofuels. Biofuels contain bio diesel and ethanol. There are also a very few associates engaged in study and amelioration of hydrogen furnaces which run on biomass, often barnyard waste. While all these associates are in enterprise to make money, the combined follow of what they are selling and producing is a obvious one for the environment. Renewable energy is an undeniable fact of life for us now, and we all have a form of communal accountability to do our part to advance it into the mainstream. Regardless if the motivation is purely financial---to whether make or save money---the end follow is the same; a allowance in the emissions and pollution produced by primary fossil fuels, and a cleaner, more sustainable environment and economy.

Renewable power - lesson 1 - Introduction to Renewable power

Trends toward renewable energy are taking hold on a more thorough basis every day. One will hear more frequent mention of terms like "green construction" or "green companies". These terms refer to building houses in an environmentally friendly manner, development as much use of renewable energy technology as possible and to businesses that have adopted an organized and serious course to reducing their environmental impact through use of renewable energy.

Renewable energy has come to be such a popular subject, that it is seen as a constant theme in modern media, including major movies, Tv programs and in music. The growing awareness and concern with environmental issues is fueling the basic shift toward being more environmentally aware and toward using renewable energy whenever possible. There is still much pollution and waste in the world today, but there has never been such a high and growing level of awareness and motivation to change our basic lifestyles in order to save and cure our climate. Renewable energy is a basic piece of the puzzle for not only a healthy planet, but a healthy life as well.

In this contemporary era with global warming and green house gases on the rise, it's prominent that one takes note of the point of renewable energy resources to sell out carbon emissions and supplementary harmful effects upon the environment. What could be a great way to do this than to start with your own home?

Governments colse to the world are offering grants, tax breaks, and concessions to those who are willing to turn their homes to use solar power. But sometimes it's hard to find what's currently being offered and how to get them. The best place to start is the "Database of State Incentives for Renewable and Efficiency" website. The site provides a map of the United States which allows you to click on the state in which you live, and a host of supplementary links will be presented that will outline the incentives or grants that are being offered at private state levels, as well as the federal level. Before you start the renewal or implementation of a solar power system, check out this site first. It will show you what you're entitled to and what money you can save. This is the first step to comprehension how to get a solar power grant.

The Advantages and Disadvantages of Alternative energy

It is considerable that we find affordable and workable sources of alternative energy before the world completely consumes the already itsybitsy stock of fossil fuels. Many countries have started to introduce renewable energy schemes and more still have invested money into researching and even producing different sources of alternative energy. While it is considerable that we come to be less reliant or not reliant at all on fossil fuels, many forms of alternative energy have their disadvantages as well as their certain advantages. It has to be said though, that the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages in many cases.

Wind Energy.

Alternative Energy

Harnessing the power of the wind and using it to our ends is hardly a new idea. Windmills have been and still are used for many different purposes and have been for a great many years, but the revision of turbines combined with the improved technology to turn the motion of turbine blades into an energy source has seen the use of turbines explode.

The Advantages and Disadvantages of Alternative energy

Wind power is very popular, but in order to provide a inexpensive estimate of power it may prove considerable to have large amounts of turbines. On windy days, and even not so windy days some turbines make a noise that many residents think to be unbearable. Areas of open countryside are protected by conservation orders, which means they can't be built there either and if there is no conservation order there are still protestors willing to do approximately anything to stop the turbines being built. The only viable option left is to use offshore wind farms and these are being investigated, developed and planned all nearby the world but it takes too many turbines to originate a inexpensive estimate of power and at last they will have to be built inland; a matter that will be contested wherever the wind farms are proposed to be built.

Solar Energy.

Solar energy is probably the most tasteless form of alternative powers for daily people and you can see solar lights ad other solar accessories in many gardens. Governments are beginning to offer grants to support in paying for photovoltaic roof tiles; these tiles are for real fitted onto your roof and procure the heat from the sun. This heat can either be used to heat water or can even be converted into electricity. The advantage for the consumer is that by along with a grid tie law you can for real sell unused electricity back to the grid. Photovoltaic tiles take the place of commonplace roof tiles and can be perfectly blended to fit the look of the face of your house. With solar energy you too can help the environment.

Biomass.

Ask most people which renewable energy source is the most widely used and they would say either wind or solar, but they'd be wrong or at least they for real would in America. Since 2000 Biomass has been the most extremely produced alternative energy in the United States. Using plant and animal material to originate energy isn't without its downfalls. It would approximately for real meet with competition from residents if biomass power stations were to be created in built up areas. The decomposing plants and animal waste creates an awful smell that is incredibly difficult to mask but it is very renewable (there's always plants and animal waste).

Other renewable energy sources.

These are the main three renewable energy sources that the countries of the world are creating at the moment but there are others. either nuclear power is a viable alternative or not is a debate that will for real rage on forever, but it is a renewable energy and some countries already have farranging capabilities to furnish it. Modern technology means that nuclear power stations are safer than they've ever been and damage to people, animals or plantation is extremely unlikely. However, it takes a long time to construct nuclear power hub and even plants that are already being built may take ten years to come to fruition.

Hydropower is used in some countries and uses the motion of waves to originate energy. While it is a possibility, the estimate of energy produced is minimal and the outlay to set these schemes up is quite large. Without added investigation and revision in the techniques used it is unlikely that Hydropower will come to be a major player in the renewable energy world.

Six Types of Renewable vigor Sources - What Are They?

The global battle against atmosphere convert has encouraged both industrialized and developing nations to cut carbon dioxide emission. Signatories of the Kyoto Protocol lead the world to emission allowance activities, one of which is conducting study and improvement on renewable energy. Here are six types of renewable energy sources that are being thought about to power the globe in the nearest future.

1. Hydroelectric Power

Alternative Energy

Hydropower is the largest source of renewable energy. Its generating capacity amounts to 77,000 megawatts. Water arrival from rivers and waterfalls are released straight through turbines to produce energy. Although the technology is non-pollutant, it can possibly harm nautical wildlife as it may alter the quality of water. Other than that, hydropower is also extremely costly and is likely to take a long time to install.

Six Types of Renewable vigor Sources - What Are They?

2. Biomass

The International Energy agency reports that 11% of the world's renewable energy is derived from biomass. The technology produces 7,000 megawatts of renewable electricity. Biomass is taken from commercial processing of forestry and wood products, agriculture, building and solid waste. These biodegradable materials are converted to gas by burning it in a gas turbine. In the United States, mill operations are the main source of biomass energy. It is the best alternative to coal as it produces less sulfur dioxide.

3. Geothermal Energy

Among the six types of renewable energy sources, geothermal is one of the most cost-effective and reliable. In the United States alone, it generates up to 2,800 megawatts of energy every year which is roughly 2% of the total energy consumption in the country. Geothermal energy is produced from naturally occurring steam under the Earth's surface. Steam is extracted to power a turbine which in turn powers an galvanic generator. The qoute with geothermal energy is the difficulty to find viable land sites. However, the same technology is employed on a smaller scale to power building heaters.

4. Wind Energy

Wind energy produces 2,500 megawatts of energy that comprises 1% of the total electricity consumption in the United States. The wind rotates the blade that is attached to a main shaft where a generator is installed. Energy capacity is thought about by the size of turbine. Small wind turbines are commonly used to power households, farms and ranches in the country. The downside to this technology is the noise that it produces and its relatively costly installation cost.

5. Photovoltaic Cells

Photovoltaic cell is one among the six types of renewable energy sources that does not wish high maintenance. It basically produces energy by using microchip-like materials that absorbs sunlight. This frees the electrons from their atoms and allows them to originate electricity. Pv cells are commonly trustworthy and produce less to none pollution.

6. Solar Thermal Systems

Solar thermal systems, as the name implies, also gather energy from sunlight. The system uses solar collectors to dispell solar radiation that will then be used to heat water or air that will originate steam used to operate a turbine. The turbine will then power a generator.

Federal and state government encourages citizens to setup solar energy at home or in the workplace by awarding revenue tax credits. The same is being done for the other six types of renewable energy sources.
